Stripping away the rose colored glasses of denial concerning my reality. Getting in touch with truth. Reaching out to others in empathy concerning their reality and their walk to truth.

Directed

Directed by the world to live for days, times, and seasons.
Am I a citizen of the world without my choosing?
Every month has a holiday or disaster to worship.
Must I participate? Must you?
Of course we must.
It's unacceptable not to do so.
Right?
What rights do I really have now?
Will 2016 be different?

  1. I'll be a citizen.
    The alternative is undesirable.
    Happy New Year!

  2. The world is filled with holidays and disaster days, so many so that just mentioning them could fill all the newscasts forever. We don't acknowledge most of them. We only acknowledge the ones that fall within our consciences. If you don't want to participate don't, but realize that you can't stop anyone else from celebrating.

  3. each year has been a year of tragedy and sorrow in these regions of mine, so we're kinda used to it here. Twould be strange if nothing bad would to happen.

  8. Dixie, interesting poem. In this nation while we still have certain freedoms then I think we should indulge in them. If you want to celebrate your holiday of choice then do it and do it with a full heart. I know one day Christian related holidays will not be accepted. Santa and the Easter bunny will replace Jesus and ALL public religious symbols banned. This is prophecy coming to pass. You can see the change every year a little more than the year before. It would be a grand life if all of mankind could live peacefully amongst one another despite race or religion. May 2016 be a healthy, happy, and prosperous year for you dear friend! Hugs

    1. Cathy - I can agree - when people start praying for each other, rather than prey on each other - things will change. Does that seem too simplistic or bombastic?

  9. Hi Dixie. Are you asking to be allowed to 'drop out' of the world that surrounds you? I'm not sure I would want to do that. I think that all the grief and sorrow in the world is counter-balanced by the joy within it. I hope 2016 is good to you!

  10. as a recent retiree, i now consider participation to be optional. 40 years of forced participation is enough.

2016 will be good. if not, the good luck charm i purchased at the chinese store was a waste of 99 cents.

  11. Good advice; making yourself happy :) I'm trying!

I participate, when I have to, lol. Sometimes more. I'm changing up my own world, making it fit my age and desires of now, not years ago.

Here's to looking up this year.

Have a great weekend Polka Dot.

  12. I watch the news an bemoan how bad things are, but I rarely participate, and I often don't care because I'm ambivalent, or because I don't think a story is worth my time, or because it's on the other side of the world. I try to be nice close to home, that mostly being the extent of my contribution.

  13. I'm a citizen but I don't celebrate everything on the calendar. There's too many. I participate in the ones I feel I should participate in.

Hope your year has started off good. :)

    1. I see that. We contribute to our happiness by making decisions best for us, individually.
